When you are struggling, read this

You are not your fears. You are not your anxiety. You are not the stories that your parents told you about yourself. You are not the lies that others have believed. You are not your physical pain, discomfort or symptoms. You are not your fatigue. You are not your loneliness or despair.

You are not your faulty coping habits, your limiting beliefs, or your unexamined, outdated programming. You are not the critical inner voice that tears strips off you. You are not your trauma. You are not the things that happened to you when you couldn’t say no. You are not your regrets or mistakes.

You are not the names you call yourself under your breath. You are not your shame. You are not your painful memories. You are not your past. You have lived through all of the hard times you have experienced, and damn straight you deserve to give yourself credit for that, kiss it all goodbye, and step into this next chapter of your life.

Because You are your hopes. You are your dreams. You are the light that others see in you. You are your values. You get to create your future. You are the author of your life, and its time to start a new chapter in your story. You are a soul in a human body. You are your deep inner knowing, your creative spark.

You are part of the universal consciousness, expressing itself individually through the one and only you. You are unique, irreplaceable, and you deserve to be here. You are a super advanced intelligent and self aware monkey made of stardust on a miraculous spinning rock hurtling through endless time and space.

You are not your thoughts. You are the thinker of your thoughts. You are the vastness of your mind, like the light of the sun in the endless sky behind the clouds. Sometimes the clouds get in the way of the sun. Sometimes the clouds are heavy and dark. But the sun is always there. Your mind is always there behind your thoughts.

It’s time to forgive yourself for everything you needed to do when you were in survival mode. It’s time to ask yourself some important questions- who does that critical voice remind me of? Why do I speak to myself in a way I would never speak to a loved one? What do I need that I haven’t yet given myself?

When I’m in that triggering situation, how old do I feel? Where will I be in 5 years time if I stay the same? Where could I be in 5 years time if I make the changes? You are your hard earned knowledge, your innate wisdom. You are part of nature, and nature is part of you. Everything in nature runs in cycles.

The changing of the seasons, the way a seed needs time underground before it can sprout. We don’t shame the plant for taking time to flower do we? You are no different. A butterfly needs to start life as a caterpillar, then have the time and find the strength to break free from its cocoon before it can fly. You are no different.

Look back- but only to make sense of the past. Look back long enough to comfort that scared and lonely little girl who didn’t get her needs met back then. Its not too late to meet those needs now. You can invite her into the present moment, help her feel safe, cherished and understood, and let her know that you have her back. Then when she is soothed, she won’t be trying to control your life from her child-like understanding any more. She will be free to run and play in the background while trusting that you, the real adult you, have 100% got this.

And when you are ready to shine a light on your demons, you will realise that they were only trying to protect you- they were just doing a really crappy job. In their own weird and broken little ways, they were trying to help you. They will stop working so hard, crumble and be reabsorbed into your essential self when they have a gentle light on them, and a guide to help them see what they are doing. They don’t need to do that any more. You don’t need to run from them any more. Then- turn around. Centre yourself in the present moment. Look forward.

You have full permission to use your powerful imagination for you, not against you. Don’t look back now- you are not going that way. Look forward, and bring closer every day the reality you have always dreamed of. Every day is a new opportunity to grow into your higher self, and to call that home. If I can do it, so can you. Its a wonderful place to be. Yes, it will be hard. But the alternative is harder, and you can do hard things.

On this path, you deserve support- but no one can do it for you. If you break the butterfly’s cocoon for them, they will perish. So take the time it takes and get the help you need to grow into the woman you want to be. The time will pass anyway, and your imagination is one of your greatest tools, so let’s use the time to create a new reality with your powerful imagination that can bring your unique gifts to the world.

Everything you endured, that heavy load you carry- that’s your cocoon phase. You are so, so close to flying now my dear. It’s time to metamorphose into your highest self. The question is, where do you want to go?
